A FLORIDA FUGITIVE ACCUSED OF ABUSING A KINGSPORT TODDLER IS BEHIND BARS. 32 YEAR OLD TIMOTHY COOKSTON OF KINGSPORT IS CHARGED WITH BEING A FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE. HE WAS CONVICTED OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER IN 1993 FOR THE ROBBERY AND MURDER OF A 72 YEAR OLD WOMAN. HE WAS SENTENCED IN THAT MURDER TO LIFE IN PRISON AND RELEASED ON PROBATION IN DECEMBER 2006. HE’S WANTED OUT OF FLORIDA FOR A PROBATION VIOLATION. FOLLOWING AN INVESTIGATION INTO AN INCIDENT IN WHICH COOKSTON ALLEGEDLY BRUISED HIS GIRLFRIEND’S TWO YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DURING A SPANKING, THE WARRANT WAS DISCOVERED AND HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. CHARGES ARE PENDING IN THE ABUSE CASE. HE’S SCHEDULED TO APPEAR IN GENERAL SESSIONS COURT JULY 1ST.
