LEE COUNTY VIRGINIA HAS BEEN AWARDED A HIGHWAY CONTRACT. THE 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS WILL BE USED TO REPLACE THE BRIDGE BEAMS, CONCRETE DECK, AND PERFORM SOME MINOR REPAIRS TO THE ALTERNATE ROUTE 58 BRIDGE OVER THE POWELL RIVER IN LEE COUNTY. THE CONTRACT WAS AWARDED TO ELK KNOB, INC. OF PENNINGTON GAP TO DO THE WORK. DURING CONSTRUCTION, TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNALS WILL MAINTAIN ONE-LANE FLOW ACROSS THE BRIDGE. WIDTH RESTRICTIONS WILL BE IN PLACE ON ALTERNATE ROUTE 58 DURING CONSTRUCTION. WORK ON THE PROJECT IS TENTATIVELY SET TO BEGIN IN MID-JULY.
