A FEDERAL MAGISTRATE JUDGE HAS REVOKED THE BOND OF A FORMER COEBURN VIRGINIA VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER ACCUSED OF SETTING A BLAZE THAT DESTROYED A POPULAR TOURIST ATTRACTION. 22 YEAR OLD NICHOLAS OWENS PLED NOT GUILTY IN MARCH TO ARSON AND LYING TO FEDERAL AUTHORITIES. OWENS AND CHRISTOPHER HYATT ARE ACCUSED OF BURNING DOWN THE HIGH KNOB OBSERVATION TOWER ON HALLOWEEN. BOND WAS SET FOR OWENS FOUR MONTHS AGO, BUT HE’S ALLEGEDLY VIOLATED THE TERMS NEARLY A DOZEN TIMES. THE JUDGE’S MAIN CONCERN WAS THAT OWENS FAILED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION. BOTH MEN ARE SCHEDULED FOR A TRIAL NEXT MONTH IN BIG STONE GAP VIRGINIA.
