THE BRISTOL VIRGINIA CITY SCHOOL BOARD WILL MEET TODAY TO DISCUSS THE SEARCH FOR A NEW SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS. CURRENT SUPERINTENDENT, DOUG ARNOLD, NOTIFIED THE BOARD LAST MONTH THAT HE PLANS TO RETIRE JUNE 30TH WHEN HIS TWO YEAR CONTRACT EXPIRES. A FORMAL SEARCH COULD TAKE UP TO A YEAR. THE BOARD WILL MEET IN A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING TODAY AND COULD SCHEDULE ANOTHER ONE LATER THIS MONTH OR TAKE ACTION AT ITS JULY 1ST GATHERING. SEVERAL YEARS AGO, THE BOARD PAID 5-THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE VIRGINIA SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION TO IDENTIFY AND SCREEN CANDIDATES. THE VSBA HAS ALREADY OFFERED TO WAIVE THE FEE, IF THE BOARD OPTS TO UTILIZE THE ORGANIZATION AGAIN.
