A BLOUNTVILLE TRUCK DRIVER ACCUSED OF STATE FRAUD IN VIRGINIA IS BEHIND BARS. 49 YEAR OLD WILLIAM PICKEL IS CHARGED WITH 193 COUNTS OF OBTAINING MONEY BY FALSE PRETENSE. HE ALLEGEDLY COLLECTED SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY AND WORKMAN’S COMPENSATION FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS FOLLOWING A 1994 INJURY HE SUFFERED WHILE WORKING AS A TRUCK DRIVER. DURING THAT TIME, HE ALLEGEDLY CONTINUE TO DRIVE A TRUCK. PICKEL RECENTLY COMPLETED A 16 MONTH FEDERAL PRISON SENTENCE FOR SOCIAL SECURITY FRAUD IN THE CASE. AS SOON AS HE WAS RELEASED, HE WAS ONCE AGAIN ARRESTED ON STATE CHARGES. IF CONVICTED, HE FACES UP TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON AND OVER 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN FINES. HE’S CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN THE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA REGIONAL JAIL AND HIS TRIAL DATE IS SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 9TH IN WASHINGTON COUNTY VIRGINIA CIRCUIT COURT.
