PLANS FOR A NEW 10-STORY, 360-BED TOWER NEXT THE CURRENT JOHNSON CITY MEDICAL CENTER HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED BY MOUNTAIN STATES HEALTH ALLIANCE. MSHA SPOKESMAN ED HERBERT SAYS THE PROJECT DEPENDS ON WHETHER OR NOT MONEY IS AVAILABLE AS WELL AS THE STATE’S APPROVAL OF A CERTIFICATE OF NEED. THE PLAN ALSO CALLS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TWO PARKING GARAGES. THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW TOWER IS PART OF AN OVERALL FOUR-PHASE PROJECT OVER A PERIOD OF FIVE TO TEN YEARS AND WOULD INCLUDE THE TOWER ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE CURRENT HOSPITAL.
