TESTIMONY IS EXPECTED TO GET UNDERWAY THIS MORNING IN SULLIVAN COUNTY CRIMINAL COURT IN THE TRIAL OF A KINGSPORT MAN ACCUSED OF MORE THAN 50 SEXUAL CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN. 67 YEAR OLD DONALD LYNCH FACES 11 COUNTS OF RAPE OF CHILD, 38 COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR AND FIVE COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED SEXUAL BATTERY. HE FLED IN 2004 AFTER POSTING BOND ON THE SAME CHARGES AND SPENT MORE THAN THREE YEARS ON THE RUN. HE WAS CAPTURED LAST YEAR WHILE WORKING AS A SECURITY OFFICER AT A HOTEL IN MEXICO. LYNCH’S ATTORNEY GENE SCOTT HAD ASKED FOR A CONTINUANCE IN THE TRIAL SAYING HIS CLIENT WAS SUFFERING FROM MEDICAL PROBLEMS, BUT THE JUDGE DENIED THE MOTION. THE TRIAL IS EXPECTED TO LAST THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK.
