GREENEVILLE HAS A NEW MAYOR TODAY. 1ST WARD ALDERMAN LARAINE KING GARNERED ENOUGH VOTES TO BEAT OUT INCUMBENT MAYOR DARRELL BRYAN YESTERDAY IN THE MUNCIPAL ELECTION. KING WILL BECOME THE FIRST FEMALE MAYOR OF GREENEVILLE. IN THE 2ND WARD ALDERMEN RACE, INCUMBENTS SARAH WEBSTER AND W. T. DANIELS HAD NO OPPOSITION AND WILL RETAIN THEIR SEATS FOR AWHILE LONGER. IN THE 2ND WARD SCHOOL BOARD CONTEST, CINDY LUTTREL AND JERRY ANDERSON WERE RE-ELECTED. FIVE PEOPLE WERE VYING FOR THE TWO SEATS. KING WILL BE SWORN IN AS THE 43RD MAYOR AT THE BOARD’S MEETING NEXT MONTH.
