THE 2008 VIRGINIA LAW ENFORCEMENT SPECIAL OLYPMIC TORCH RUN IS SET FOR THIS WEEKEND. ACCORDING TO WASHINGTON COUNTY VIRGINIA SHERIFF FRED NEWMAN WHO SERVES AS THIS YEAR’S REGION ELEVEN DIRECTOR, THE TORCH RUN WILL BEGIN ON SATURDAY AT 8 A.M. IN FRONT OF THE TRAIN STATION MARKETPLACE IN BRISTOL, VIRGINIA. THE TORCH RUN WILL TRAVEL UP U.S. 11 THROUGH THE TOWN OF ABINGDON, AND WIND UP NEAR EXIT 29 IN GLADE SPRING. THEN ON SUNDAY, THE TORCH RUN WILL CONTINUE EAST AND BE COMPLETED IN RICHMOND LATER IN THE WEEK WHERE OTHER RUNNERS FROM NORTHERN AND EASTERN PARTS OF THE STATE WILL MEET.
