A SUSPECT CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEATH OF A YOUNG WOMAN IN WASHINGTON COUNTY VIRGINIA HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR HIS ROLE IN THE INCIDENT. 46 YEAR OLD CHARLES STILTNER, WHO WAS ARRESTED LAST AUGUST, PLED GUILTY TO VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER AFTER PROSECUTORS AMENDED THE SECOND-DEGREE MURDER CHARGES AGAINST HIM IN THE DEATH OF CHRISTA HART. HER BODY WAS FOUND BY AUTHORITIES IN SOUTH HOLSTON LAKE IN OCTOBER 2002. JUDGE RANDALL LOWE SENTENCED STILTNER TO ONE YEAR IN PRISON, PLUS PLACED HIM ON THREE YEARS OF ACTIVE SUPERVISED PROBATION. DENNIS GODFREY, WASHINGTON COUNTY’S COMMONWEALTH’S ATTORNEY, SAID THE SENTENCE WAS A FAIR ONE SINCE SE THEIR CASE AGAINST STILNER WAS BASED ON CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE FROM WITNESSES WHO WERE NOT PRESENT AT THE TIME OF HART’S DEATH.
