A TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVOLVING A GREENE COUNTY SCHOOL BUS HAS LEFT ONE PERSON DEAD. ACCORDING TO THE TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL, 29 YEAR OLD PAUL HAMMITT OF AFTON WAS KILLED THIS MORNING, BUT NONE OF THE 38 STUDENTS OR THE BUS DRIVER WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED. POLICE SAID HAMMITT’S CAR STRUCK THE REAR BUMPER OF THE BUS, CAUSING THE TOP OF THE CAR TO BE RIPPED AWAY. THE VEHICLE THEN TRAVELED NEARLY 150 YARDS, CROSSED THE MEDIAN AND CRASHED INTO A GURAD RAIL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. HEAVY FOG IS PARTIALLY BEING BLAMED ON THE ACCIDENT. HAMMITT’S BODY HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE QUILLEN COLLEGE OF MEDICINE FOR AN AUTOPSY. NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED.
