A HAWKINS COUNTY MAN CONVICTED OF KILLING UP TO 27 OF HIS NEIGHBORS GOATS IS APPEALING HIS CONVICTION. JEFF STOLTZ WAS FOUND GUILTY EARLIER THIS YEAR ON CHARGES OF INTENTIONAL KILLING OF AN ANIMAL. THE CHARGES STEMMED FROM AN INCIDENT IN WHICH STOLTZ SHOT AND KILLED A NANNY GOAT, WHICH RESULTED IN UP TO 26 KID GOATS STARVING TO DEATH. DURING A BENCH TRIAL LAST WEEK, A JUDGE SENTENCED STOLTZ TO SERVE 60 DAYS IN JAIL AND PAY ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS IN RESTITUTION.
