A ROGERSVILLE MAN WHO WAS INDICTED LAST YEAR IN A CHILD ABUSE CASE IS NOW FACING ADDITIONAL CHARGES. 23 YEAR OLD RICHARD TREHERN WAS CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE AS THE RESULT OF AN ALLEGED BABY SHAKING INCIDENT INVOLVING HIS FOUR YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. HE’S NOW FACING TWO MORE COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE. THE INFANT REPORTEDLY SUFFERED DAMAGE TO THE LEFT EYE. PROSECUTORS SAID THE ADDITIONAL CHARGES ARE THE RESULT OF AN ONGOING MEDICAL STUDY OF THE CHILD. AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE IS A CLASS A FELONY PUNISHABLE WITH UP TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON IF CONVICTED. TREHERN REMAINS BEHIND BARS ON A 150-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND. HIS TRIAL IS SET FOR NEXT MONTH IN HAWKINS COUNTY CRIMINAL COURT.
