FOR NOW, A NEW TRIAL DATE HAS BEEN SET IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT FOR A MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING ANOTHER MAN NEARLY TWO YEARS AGO. PONCHO JUAN DELGADO IS CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER AND ARSON IN THE STABBING DEATH OF 41 YEAR OLD ROBERT CURTIS. HE’S ALSO ACCUSED OF SETTING FIRE TO CURTIS’ EAST FAIRVIEW AVENUE HOME FOLLOWING THE STABBING IN MAY 2006. DEGLADO’S LEAD DEFENSE ATTORNEY HAS ASKED JUDGE ROBERT CUPP FOR A MISTRIAL IN LIGHT OF RECENT CONFUSION ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE TRIAL. CUPP WILL MAKE A FINAL DECISION IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. BUT FOR NOW, HE HAS SET MAY 13TH AS THE DATE THE TRIAL WILL RESUME.
