A MISTRIAL HAS BEEN DECLARED IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT IN THE TRIAL OF AN ELIZABETHTON MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING AN ELDERLY JOHNSON CITY MAN NEARLY TWO YEARS AGO. ROGER GREENWELL IS CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE BEATING DEATH OF 67 YEAR OLD ROBERT PETERSON IN MAY 2006 AT PETERSON’S KENTUCKY STREET APARTMENT. GREENWELL IS ALLEGED TO HAVE BEAT PETERSON TO DEATH WITH A CLAW HAMMER AND STOLE HIS MONEY AND POSSIBLY SOME DRUGS. YESTERDAY, JURORS COULD NOT REACH A UNANIMOUS VERDICT IN THE CASE, WHICH LED TO THE MISTRIAL. IT’S UNCLEAR WHEN A NEW TRIAL DATE WILL BE SET.
