JURY DELIBERATIONS WILL RESUME THIS MORNING IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT IN THE TRIAL OF AN ELIZABETHTON MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING AN ELDERLY JOHNSON CITY MAN NEARLY TWO YEARS AGO. ROGER GREENWELL IS CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE BEATING DEATH OF 67 YEAR OLD ROBERT PETERSON IN MAY 2006 AT PETERSON’S KENTUCKY STREET APARTMENT. GREENWELL IS ALLEGED TO HAVE BEAT PETERSON TO DEATH WITH A CLAW HAMMER AND STOLE HIS MONEY AND POSSIBLY SOME DRUGS. DEFENSE ATTORNEY DON SPURRELL DECLINED TO CALL HIS WITNESS TO TESTIFY AND DIDN’T PRESENT ANY EVIDENCE IN THE TRIAL. A VERDICT COULD COME AS EARLY AS TODAY.
