JONESBOROUGH TOWN LEADERS ARE CONSIDERING DOING WHAT ANOTHER SMALL NORTHEAST TENNESSEE TOWN RECENTLY DID AND THAT IS TO INSTALL SPEED CAMERAS TO HELP SLOW TRAFFIC. THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND ALDERMAN APPROVED ON FIRST READING LAST NIGHT, AN ORDINANCE FOR A TRAFFIC CONTROL PHOTOGRAPHIC SYSTEM AT THE INTERSECTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 11-E AND BOONE STREET. THE DEVICE WILL TAKE SNAPSHOTS OF THE LICENSE PLATES OF MOTORISTS THAT RUN A REDLIGHT OR SPEED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THE INSTALLATION AND USAGE OF SUCH A SYSTEM WOULD NOT COST THE TOWN ANY MONEY. MOUNT CARMEL RECENTLY INSTALLED SPEED CAMERAS THAT SEEM TO BE WORKING WELL.
