FIREFIGHTERS WORKED HARD OVER THE WEEKEND TO CONTAIN A FIRE IN JOHNSON COUNTY TENNESSEE. 261 ACRES OF PRIVATE LAND WAS DESTROYED BEFORE FIRE CREWS FROM THE REGION, IDAHO, COLORADO AND ASHEVILLE NORTH CAROLINA COULD GET IT UNDER CONTROL. RAIN AND SNOW OVER THE WEEKEND DID HELP OUT, BUT THERE WAS STILL PROBLEMS GETTING IT KNOCKED DOWN DUE TO LINGERING DROUGHT CONDITIONS. THE BLAZE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE STARTED WHEN A PERSON COULDN’T CONTROL A BRUSH FIRE. NO HOMES WERE IN DANGER OF GOING UP IN FLAMES. BURN PERMITS ARE REQUIRED IN TENNESSEE UNTIL MAY 15TH.
