LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS IN TAZEWELL COUNTY VIRGINIA ARE HOPING TO ENLIST AREA CHURCHES TO HELP IN THE FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS. COMMONWEALTH’S ATTORNEY DENNIS LEE TOLD A RECENT GATHERING THAT THERE ARE OVER 300 PEOPLE IN THE COUNTY JAIL AND THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS PROBABLY HAVE BETWEEN ONE AND TWO THOUSAND COUNTY RESIDENTS INCARCERATED SOMEWHERE. HE ADDED THAT 80 TO 90 PERCENT OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS GOT INTO TROUBLE BECAUSE OF DRUGS. ACCORDING TO PASTOR STEVE BRANCH OF DESTINY OUTREACH MINISTRIES, THOSE ADDICTED TO NARCOTICS NEED LOVE AND SUPPORT AS THEY TRY TO RECOVER. HE SAID THEIR FAMILIES ALSO NEED HELP IN DEALING WITH THE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE ADDICTION.
