A student pilot from Tennessee had to do some quick thinking when his two-seat Cessna 150 ran out of fuel and he was forced to land the plane on interstate 81 near Abingdon Virginia. 27-year-old Matthew Edward Scott of Blountville, Tenn. was on his way back to Virginia Highlands Airport from Knoxville on his first solo flight as a student pilot when his engine sputtered and he had to quickly find a safe place to land. And i’m sure he’s not looking forward to it anytime soon. Police say Scott was uninjured and will not face charges. The southbound lanes of the interstate were briefly closed, allowing the plane to safely taxi the rest of the way to the airport.
