THE SEARCH IS CONTINUING FOR A WYTHE COUNTY VIRGINIA MAN ACCUSED OF SHOOTING AND WOUNDING A VIRGINIA STATE POLICE TROOPER NEAR GILES COUNTY. TROOPERS WERE ATTEMPTING TO SERVE TWO ARREST WARRANTS WHEN A SUBJECT IN A TRUCK, WHO WAS LATER IDENTIFIED AS 32 YEAR OLD STEVEN BRANSCOME, TOOK OFF. HE LED POLICE UP A DIRT MOUNTAIN ROAD AND THEN FLED ON FOOT. POLICE SGT. MICHAEL CONROY TELLS US…..

THE TROOPER WAS TREATED AT GILES MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AND LATER RELEASED. CONROY SAYS BRANSCOME IS CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS. HE’S DESCRIBED AS SIX FEET TALL, BLUE EYES, BROWN HAIR AND WEIGHING APPROXIMATELY 190 POUNDS. MEANWHILE, THE PERSON POLICE WERE TRYING TO SERVE THE WARRANTS ON, WILLIAM PENNINGTON, HAS TURNED HIMSELF INTO AUTHORITIES AND IS BEING HELD WITHOUT BOND.
