The State Of Tennessee And FEMA Have Approved $9.77 Million To Replace The Chestoa Pike Road Bridge In Unicoi County, Which Was Destroyed By Floodwaters From Tropical Storm Helene In September. The Funding, Approved Through FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, Will Cover The Costs Of Replacing The 13,451 Square Foot Bridge. The Project Is Expected To Follow Modern Construction Practices And Adhere To The American Association Of State Highway And Transportation Officials’ Standards. FEMA Will Provide $7.33 Million, With A Nonfederal Share Of $2.44 Million. The Project Cost Was Based On FEMA’s Rapid Assessment Of Public Infrastructure Data.
