Due To An Arctic Front Bringing Cold Weather To The Tennessee Valley, TVA And Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES) Are Asking The Public To Reduce Energy Usage. Temperatures Have Dropped To The Teens And Single Digits, Causing Power Demand To Peak Above 34,600 MW. To Help Conserve Energy, Residents Are Encouraged To Lower Thermostats, Turn Off Non-Essential Appliances, And Delay High-Energy-Use Appliances. BTES Has Already Taken Measures To Reduce Usage. TVA And BTES Will Provide Updates As Necessary On Social Media.
