The Bristol, Va Fire Department Is Conducting Cancer Screenings In Honor Of Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month. The Department Partnered With One Test To Offer Blood Tests That Can Detect Cancer In Early Stages. Cancer Is The Leading Cause Of Firefighter Line-Of-Duty Deaths, With 72% Of Deaths Attributed To Occupational Cancer. Firefighters Will Self-Administer The Test, And Results Will Be Sent To A Lab For Analysis. The Screening Is Conducted On All Three Shifts And Will Conclude Next Week.
