The Elizabethton City Council Has Approved An Application For A $6 Million Federal Grant To Fund Downtown Infrastructure Projects. The Grant Would Cover Improvements On Sycamore Street, East Elk Avenue, And East E Street Without Requiring Local Matching Funds Due To The Area’s Designation As “Persistently Poor.” Grants Will Be Awarded In June. The Council Also Approved $530,000 For New Golf Course Equipment And A $46,000 Contract To Upgrade Downtown’s Music System. Additionally, A $27,000 Change Order Was Approved For Bonnie Kate Theater Renovations.
