The Tennessee Department Of Environment And Conservation Has Issued A Temporary Water Contact Advisory For Parts Of East Tennessee. The Advisory Covers The Nolichucky, French Broad, Pigeon, Doe, And Watauga River Watersheds, Along With Other Areas Impacted By Flooding From Hurricane Helene. Several Wastewater Treatment Plants And Sewer Systems Have Been Compromised, Potentially Releasing Untreated Sewage Into The Water. While There’s No Specific Water Quality Data Yet, TDEC Says To Avoid Floodwaters Due To Possible Bacteria. If You Come Into Contact With The Water, Wash Immediately With Soap And Clean Water. TDEC Will Lift The Advisory Once Conditions Improve.
