A Virginia Man Involved In A Meth Conspiracy Tied To The Murder Of A Big Stone Gap Police Officer Has Been Sentenced. 31-Year-Old Christopher Bates Was Sentenced To 78 Months In Federal Prison. Bates Is One Of 19 People Charged In A Drug Ring That Trafficked Meth, Heroin, And Fentanyl Into Southwest Virginia. The Conspiracy Is Also Connected To The 2021 Death Of Officer Michael Chandler, Who Was Shot While Responding To A Welfare Check At A Known Drug House.
