Washington County Commissioners Are Expected To Establish An Effective Date For A New Hotel/Motel Tax At Their Upcoming Meeting On Monday. The Tax Was Approved In April To Promote Tourism And Support Increased Flights To Tri-Cities Airport. However, A Start Date For Collections Was Not Included In The Initial Resolution. The New Tax Will Impose A 1% Hotel/Motel Tax In Johnson City, A 3% Tax In Jonesborough, And A 4% Short-Term Rental Tax In Unincorporated Areas. Revenue From The Tax Will Be Used For Marketing And Promoting Tourism In Accordance With Tennessee Law.
