A New Historical Marker Will Soon Validate Marion, Virginia, As The Birthplace Of Modern Mountain Dew. The Virginia Department Of Historic Resources Has Approved The Marker, Which Will Be Placed At 517 North Main Street, Where Bill Jones Is Credited With Creating The Citrus-Flavored Soft Drink Recipe That Was Later Sold To Pepsico. The Marker Is Expected To Be Installed By 2025, Coinciding With The 60th Anniversary Of The Drink’s Creation. Local Entrepreneur Joe Ellis Is Also Planning To Open A Mountain Dew Museum In Downtown Marion, Further Solidifying The Town’s Connection To The Iconic Brand.
