Smyth County Virginia Leaders Are Considering Lowering The Property Tax Rate. This Comes After Housing Value Reassessments Within The County Jumped By Roughly 40-Percent. The Proposal Is To Decrease The Real Estate Tax From 74-Cents To 59-Cents Per $100 Of Assessed Value. The Net Result Would Still Yield In An Increase In Taxes, But At A Lower Amount Than If No Action Was Taken. The County Board Of Supervisors Has Not Yet Decided On The Proposal.
