The Hawkins County School System Has Approved Its 2024 Fiscal Year Budget, But It Comes With A Deficit Of Over A Million Dollars. The Shortfall Is Due To Overestimating Expenditures While Underestimating Revenues Combined With Roughly 6-Percent Less In Tax Revenues. Director Of Schools, Matt Hixson, Said This Is A Worst Case Scenario And The Difference Would Be Drawn From The General Purpose Fund Balance. The Measure Now Goes Before The County Commission For A Vote. The Commission Is Set To Meet Again May 20th.
