The First Phase Of The Laurels Water Project In Carter County Has Received More Than 624-Thousand Dollars In Grant Funding. The Money Is Being Provided Through A State And Tribal Assistance Grant Program. The Funds, Which Requires A 20-Percent Match From The County, Will Be Used To Help Connect A Newly Extended Water Line From Elizabethton To Roughly 10 Homes In The Laurel Community, Which Have Solely Relied On Well Water. It’s Unclear When Work On That Project Could Get Underway.
