The Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office Has A New Tool That Will Help Make Traffic Stops Safer For Officers. The Drug Detector, Called “Rigaku Narc-Id” , Is The Only One In The Region. It Cost The Department 30-Thousand Dollars And Was Purchased With Grant Money. This Will Eliminate Officers Handling Narcotics And The Device Will Read Through Baggies Most Drugs Are Packaged In. This Is Expected To Help Reduce Officer Exposure To Fentanyl Or Other Dangerous Drugs.
