Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s Controversial School Voucher Program, Known As The Education Freedom Act, Is Now In The Hands Of The State’s General Assembly. If Approved, The Plan Would Provide Over 7-Thousand Dollars To 20-Thousand Low-Income Students Across The State To Attend A Private School Of Their Choice This Fall, Including Home School. Sullivan County School Leaders Have Already Passed A Resolution Opposing The Measure Along With Several Other School Systems, Saying It Would Be Financially Detrimental To Local Schools. They Believe The State Should Instead Put More Emphasis On Strengthening Public Schools. State Senator Jon Lundberg Of Bristol, Who Also Serves On The State’s Education And Judiciary Committees, Said He Supports The Bill And Will Sponsor The Legislation Through The Senate.
