A JOHNSON CITY MAN SHOT BY POLICE AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO RUN OVER A CITY POLICE OFFICER WILL HAVE A PRELIMINARY HEARING ON THURSDAY. AUTHORITIES SAY 27 YEAR OLD CHRISTOPHER GREEN WAS ATTEMPTING TO FLEE FROM AUTHORITES WHEN HE CRASHED HIS VEHICLE THROUGH A FENCE ON THE VETERAN ADMINISTRATION GROUNDS AND STRUCK A UTILITY POLE. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, GREEN TRIED TO FLEE A SECOND TIME BUT AN OFFICER WAS STANDING IN FRONT OF HIS VEHICLE. THE OFFICER FIRED HIS GUN WITH ONE ROUND STRIKING GREEN IN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE FACE. GREEN IS CHARGED WITH 2ND OFFENSE DUI, DRIVING ON A REVOKED LICENSE 2ND OFFENSE, FELONY EVADING ARREST, RESISTING ARREST, STOP SIGN VIOLATION, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER. HEIS CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN THE WASHINGTON COUNTY DETENTION CENTERON A 79-THOUSAND DOLLAR BOND. GREEN WILL APPEAR IN WASHINGTON COUNTY GENERAL SESSIONS COURT.
