Due To Strict Liability Claims, The Court Of Appeals Of Tennessee At Knoxville Ruled That A Class Action Lawsuit, Brought Against Eastman Chemical Company For A Steam Line Rupture, Can Possibly Continue. The Court Dismissed Five Of The Six Claims Against The Company. The Lawsuit Was Brought By Knoxville Based Attorneys On Behalf Of Sharon Weatherly, A Resident Who Owns A Home Near The Chemical Company. The Suit Was Filed For Public And Private Nuisance, Trespass, Negligence And Strict Liability For Ultra Hazardous Activity. The Rupture Occurred Last January When A Steam Line Blew Debris Into The Air And Into Nearby Neighborhoods.
