U.S. Attorney For The Western District Of Virginia, Christopher Kavanaugh, Said A Recent Indictment In A Years-Long Methamphetamine Trafficking Conspiracy In The Tri-Cities Has Put A Temporary Dent In The Supply Chain. Kavanaugh Said 20 Defendants Were Recently Arrested Who Had Allegedly Been Working To Traffic One To Three Kilos Of Meth From Atlanta Into The Bristol Area Every Week. More Than A Dozen Of Those Are Facing Federal Prison Time With Some Of Those Having Entered A Guilty Plea Already. Kavanaugh Said The Investigation Relied Heavily On Search Warrants For Cell Phone, Text And Facebook Data, And Even Encrypted Apps.
