Jury Selection Is Set To Start Thursday Morning In Wise County Circuit Court In The Trial Of A Man Accused Of Shooting Norton Police Chief James Lane. James Buckland Is Facing 17 Charges Including Attempted Capital Murder Of A Law Enforcement Officer. Chief Lane Was Responding To A Shoplifting Complaint When He Encountered Buckland In The Parking Lot. Lane Attempted To Make Contact When Buckland Allegedly Opened Fire On The Officer As He Sat In His Patrol Vehicle, Hitting Him Several Times. Lane And Another Officer Returned Fire, Striking Buckland. The Trial Is Set To Start On Monday. Buckland Remains In The Duffield Regional Jail.
