Eastman Chemical Company, Based In Kingsport, Has Been Levied Two Big Fines Over Emissions. One Was Related To The Power Shutdown That Happened In July Of Last Year And Its Aftermath. The Other Was Related To An As-Yet Unreported Incident In November Of Last Year When A Piece Of Equipment Failed In A System That Reduces Sulfur Dioxide Emissions In Eastman’s Coal Gasification Process. The Two Separate Incidents Led To Over $45,000 In Fines From The Tennessee Department Of Environment And Conservation.
