The Carter County Commission Will Consider A 15-Cent Property Tax Rate Increase, Following A Recommendation By The County’s Budget Committee. The Extra Money Is Needed In Order To Provide Pay Raises At The Sheriff’s Office After The County Jail Nearly Lost Its De-Certification And Millions Of Dollars In State Money In December. Commissioners Approved A $5 Per Hour Pay Hike, That Will Hopefully Solve An Understaffing Crisis. County Leaders Will Decide On The 2023-24 Fiscal Year Spending Plan June 30th.
