The Hawkins County Board Of Education Has Drafted A Budget, Which Includes A State Mandated Two Thousand Dollar Minimum Pay Increase For Teachers. The Base Salary For Educators Will Go From 40-Thousand Per Year To 42-Thousand Per Year. Currently, There’s A Deficit Of Just Over 2-Million Dollars In The Budget, Which Is Less Than Half Of Last Year Thanks To Higher Than Expected Tax Collections. The School System Is Also Expected To Receive Additional Money From The State Due To A New Funding Formula This School Year. The Board Of Education Will Vote On The Final Draft Of The Spending Plan At Its June Meeting. If It Passes, Then It Will Go Before The County Commission.
