A Recently Released Feasibility Study Shows Seven Large Sites In Southwest Virginia That Could House Small Modular Nuclear Reactors. Grants From Virginia Energy And Go-Virgina Region 1 Helped Fund The Study, Which Suggests A Huge Economic Boost If One Or More Small Reactors Were Located In The Formerly Coal Dominated Lenowisco Planning District. Lenowisco Covers Lee, Wise And Scott Counties And The City Of Norton. Several Of The Sites Are On Abandoned Mine Lands, Including The Bullitt Mine Complex Near Big Stone Gap.
