A Reminder To Virginia Boaters….Slow Down And Move-Over. A Law, Which Took Effect In January, Is Similar To The Move-Over Law For Motor Vehicles. Every Motorboat Approaching Or Passing Within 200 Feet Of Any Law-Enforcement Or Emergency Services Vessel Displaying Flashing Blue Or Red Lights, Will Have To Slow To No-Wake Speeds. Operators Who Fail To Do So May Face A Misdemeanor Charge And A Fine Of Up To $500. In Addition, Those Convicted Will Have To Attend A Boater Safety Education Course.
