Bristol Virginia Leaders Will Hold A Public Hearing This Evening Regarding The Proposed Budget For The Upcoming Fiscal Year, Which Is Set To Begin July 1st. The Proposed Spending Plan Is Roughly $30-Million In The Red And Includes A 5-Cent Real Estate Tax Increase. It Also Entails A 3-Percent Meal Tax Hike And A 4-Percent Lodging Tax Increase. All Of These Increases Are Expected To Generate Over 4-Million Dollars In Additional Revenue To Offset The Imbalance. Another Avenue Being Considered Is To More Than Double The Monthly Trash Pickup Rate From $33 To $72. The Meeting Is Set This Evening At 6 Pm At City Hall.
