A Man That Held Elizabethton Police At Bay For Several Hours During A Standoff Has Been Taken Into Custody. The Incident That Occurred On Bluefield Avenue Ended Peacefully With No One Hurt. Police Said A Woman Met Police At Walgreens And Told Them Her Son Had Been Staying With Her For A Few Days And When She Asked Him To Leave, He Allegedly Threatened To Kill Her And Held A Knife To Her Throat. She Managed To Escape. An Arrest Warrant Was Obtained For 33 Year Old Nathaniel Effler Charging Him With Aggravated Assault. When Officers Attempted To Arrest Him, He Barricaded Himself In The Apartment Along With Another Male Subject. Negotiations Started And The Hostage Was Later Released. Effler Surrendered Shortly Afterward And Was Taken Into Custody. More Charges Are Pending.
