An Effort To Develop A Farmer-Owned Meat Processing Facility In Washington County Tennessee Has Received A Grant Of Nearly A Million Dollars. The Funds Are Being Awarded From The Appalachian Regional Commission To The Appalachian Producers Cooperative. Plans Are For The Co-Op To Operate The Facility Located Near The Jonesborough Flea Market Off Highway 11-E In Telford. Proponents Say This Plant Will Address A Critical Lack Of Meat Processing Capacity In Our Region. Work Is Continuing To Establish The Roughly 9-Million Dollars In Funding Required To Get The Business Operating.
