Hawkins County School Leaders Are Denying Allegations In A Federal Lawsuit Claiming They Did Not Prevent A Church Hill Middle School Student From Being Racially Bullied. The Suit Was Filed In U.S. District Court In Greeneville In May By Erika Qualls, The Mother Of An Eighth Grader At The Middle School. The Suit Stems From An Incident That Occurred In September Of Last Year. The Board Of Education Contends They Didn’T Know Of Or Condone Any Kind Of Bullying. School Leaders Also Stated Ways It Had Tried To Address The Issue Of Racial Harassment In Its Schools. The Board Of Education Filed It’S Answer To The Complaint July 5Th. No Court Date Has Been Set As To When The Case Will Be Heard.
