THE FIRST DEGREE MURDER TRIAL OF A CLINTWOOD VIRGINIA MAN HAS ENDED IN A HUNG JURY. THE JURY ON SATURDAY COULD NOT DECIDE WHETHER ANTHONY GIBSON IS GUILTY OR INNOCENTIN THE MARCH STABBING DEATH OF DERON RAY STANLEY. THE TRIAL ACTUALLY BEGAN ON DECEMBER 10TH, BUT HAS BEEN DELAYED A COUPLE OF TIMES. COMMONWEALTH ATTORNEY JOE SHORT, SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTED, SAID HE WILL TRY THE CASE AGAIN BEFORE ANOTHER JURY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE JURY DELIBERATED FOR ABOUT TEN HOURS ON FRIDAY, BEFORE BEING SENT HOME. DELIBERATIONS RESUMED ON SATURDAY UNTIL ABOUT 10 A.M. A MISTRIAL WAS DECLARED BY JUDGE HENRY VANOVER AROUND 3 PM ON SATURDAY.
