James Stone

IT TOOK SOME EFFORT, BUT SULLIVAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICERS EVENTUALLY GOT THEIR MAN. A KINGSPORT MAN WANTED ON VARIOUS CHARGES WAS SPOTTED BY AN OFFICER WITH THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE WALKING ON NETHERLAND INN ROAD IN KINGSPORT. TWO WARRANTS HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR 41 YEAR OLD JAMES STONE. WHEN OFFICERS ATTEMPTED TO APPREHEND STONE, HE RAN, STOLE A VEHICLE, AND DROVE OUT OF A PARKING LOT TO ELUDE POLICE. EVENTUALLY, STONE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK A UTILITY POLE. AFTER A SHORT PURSUIT ON FOOT, STONE WAS CAPTURED. HE WAS CHARGED WITH FAILURE TO APPEAR, MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT, FELONY EVADING ARREST, FELONY RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT, AND RECKLESS DRIVING. HE IS LODGED IN THE SULLIVAN COUNTY JAIL WITHOUT BOND.
