According To Officials At Eastman Chemical Plant Around 300 Thousand Gallons Of Wastewater And 40 Pounds Of Hydraulic Oil Were Released Into The South Fork Of The Holston River The Day The Massive Steam Line Rupture Occurred. The Company Alerted The EPA On January 31st, After The Events, That Wastewater Was Being Released Into The River At 20 Thousand Gallons Per Minute. The Discharge Associated With The Hydraulic Oil Release Did Not End Until Late The Morning Of February 4th. Officials Say The Total Discharge Estimation Does Not Exceed Federal Quantities.
